From 30 to 31 October, 2025 the 5th International Conference for Sustainable Resource Society took place at the University of Eastern Finland (UEF).

For two days researchers from all fields of science gathered in the Snellmania building at UEF Kuopio campus to discuss the challenges (local and global) on:

  • sustainability transitions in society

  • climate change

  • sustainable use of natural resources

  • circular economy themes.

The attendees had the opportunity to participate in plenaries, parallel sessions and laboratory tours.

Among the participants were Farid Karimi and Prof. Tapio Litmanen from the University of Jyväskylä (JYU).

During Session 7 - Energy Transition in Circular Economy, they delivered a presentation about DeCrises. Titled: “EU decarbonisation in times of crises: an overview of multilevel governance gaps for an equitable twin transition”, it focused on the challenges of the EU twin transition, identified the gaps in the MLG framework and proposed solutions to overcome them.

The conference was co-hosted by a consortium of UEF Research Communities:

  • Forests and Bioeconomy (FOBI)

  • Sustainable Co-management of Water Resources and Aquatic Environments (WATER)
